I made bread and cheese (of course) and I also made for them a very cool dish that I have been using a lot when people come over. It is a mixture of bacon, apples, Gorgonzola, and just a little onions and sugar. If I had a restaurant, it would be an appetizer on the menu. It is sooooo amazing on warm bread, it's not even funny.
So here it is, the nameless recipe:
4-6 slices thick bacon, diced (I use a pepper bacon and it goes fabulous)
1 green apple, diced
1/4 c. diced onion
a couple tsps of sugar
salt to tasted (pepper too if you don't' use pepper bacon)
A couple handfuls of Gorgonzola
Fry bacon until crisp, drain reserving just a little of the grease to saute the onions in. Saute onions, then add diced apples, saute for a couple of minutes (apples should still be a little firm). Add sugar, then salt, and let apples get soft.
Put in serving dish, stir in some Gorgonzola and voila!!!
Thanks for a great evening Claire and Doug!!! I appreciate the food compliments and you were wonderful guests!!!

So...any chance you might want to teach me to make cheese? I'll bribe you with wine. I'm dying to learn and nervous to try it on my own.
And my "plunge" is job related. Given that my boss hosts my blog, I couldn't just come out and say it. :)
When am I going to get to come to one of these gastronomic love fests at your house? I don't think you really love me.
Ohhh, that sounds good. I have a hard time refusing anything with gorgonzola.
No, THANK YOU!!! It was so much fun, the food ROCKED, & Roxie simply has to come play...Piper was so bummed. (Oh, & just wait until we know you well enough to be BAD guests, hehehe.)
I'm telling you, that apple-y, bacony, gorgonzola-y stuff is incredible. You should name it something cool, before Doug & I do. You just never know what we'll come up with, so....
